Personal   

I am married to (and what is more important, in love with) Mayra. We have three wonderful children named Amanda, Gael and Adam.

Although I have a Spanish passport (and sense of taste), I was born in Liège (Belgium), a millenary city in the heart of Europe where I went to Elementary school (École Saint Jean). Somehow, this explains why I keep some personality traits from the place where I was born.

I moved to Gijón (Spain) at the age of 12. I then realized how easy it is to feel like a stranger in the country of your roots. Despite a difficult beginning, I finally got to enjoy a great time at Real Instituto Jovellanos, one of the oldest high schools in Spain. During those years, I enjoyed two wonderful summers in England (Nottingham 1995 and Stoke-On-Trent 1996), where I made great friends and experienced unforgettable moments. I later got a law degree from the University of Oviedo, where I made my first steps in political activism. At that point, and despite my great love for my supportive and wonderful family, I needed new frontiers and decided to make my own way…

Then came Bruges, where I got a Master in European Legal Studies at the College of Europe; Barcelona, where I unexpectedly found my love and worked as a lawyer at the firm Cuatrecasas; New York, where I got a Master in Laws (LL.M) at  Columbia University; Brussels, where I worked as a lawyer at the firm Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton; and now Paris. I am, above all, a traveller. Perhaps I will stay in Paris quite some time, but a self-respecting nomad can never be sure of that…

Work

I am a lawyer (a F1 pilot “in pectore”, but that will be in another life). I am currently working as Chief Counsel at a multilateral development bank dedicated to projects in the fields of social integration, education, health, environmental protection and administrative/judicial infrastructure in about 40 countries.
